Giouvetsi (pronounced dzjouvetsie) is a well-known and traditional Greek dish that is eaten all over Greece. An essential ingredient for this recipe is kritharaki - better known as orzo - a type of rice-shaped pasta. One of the most delicious recipes from Grandma Magousakis and a great favorite of Dimitris and Daan. Easy, pure and very tasty!
Ingredients
- 4-6 chicken legs or drumsticks
- 250 grams of tomato juice
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 100ml olive oil
- 250 grams orzo pasta (kritiharaki)
- 500-700 ml water (boiling)
- Salt, pepper, sweet paprika and chopped parsley
- Place the chicken (rubbed in olive oil) in the oven for -/+45 minutes at 170 degrees
- Remove the chicken and oven tray, add the onions, remaining olive oil, salt and other spices. Then add the tomato juice with the boiling water. Stir well and then add olive oil with the parsley.
- Leave it in the oven for a maximum of 20-25 minutes at 180 degrees.
- Turn off the oven and stir again, then return to the oven for another 5-10 minutes to cool. Then open the oven and serve immediately.
